Sir Hubert Wilkins informed the Australian Associated Press Agency that he was uncertain when his expedition will begin, owing to the difficulty of getting a submarine, and it may not be until 1938. He has received already about 4000 applications to join the crew, many from Australians and New Zealanders. “I prefer Australians and New Zealanders if possible,” he said, “because they are wonderful comrades. I can’t afford to bring any to England, but I intend to look for qualified Australians and New Zealanders here. Otherwise I shall use Englishmen anr Norwegians. ”
