Zane Grey Novel Makes Colourful Film

• THE ARIZONA RAIDERS” FEATURES LARRY CRABBE (Kosy: Screening To-day.) The Zane Grey novel “Raiders of the Spanish Peaks” appears on the screen as Paramount’s adventurefilled, action-packed picture in “The Arizona Raiders” with Larry Crabbe and Marsha Hunt in leading roles. The story’s whirlwind developments are set in the old West, where cattle rustling was a real and ever-present problem, and include two thrilling stampedes, one of maddened cattle and the other of a herd of high-spirited horses. Crabbe appears as an adventurous, hard-riding cowpuncher, who in the movie's opening shot is about to be hanged for horse theft, although he is innocent. His escape from the hanging posse is the opening of a plot which keeps its pace throughout. Shortly after he has fled the posse, Crabbe comes across another party about to hang Raymond Hatton for a list of minor offenses. He holds up the crowd, frees Hatton, and the two ride together into Arizona.

There they take jobs on a ranch operated by Miss Hunt, just in time to learn that a band of rustlers is planning to drive her valuable herd of horses across the border. The way in which Crabbe check-mates the scheme, wins Marsh, and at the same time aids voung Johnny Downs in a elopement with Miss Hunt’s sister, Jane Rhodes, provides the plot that follows. The film closes with a double wedding ceremony.

The title of “Love Under Fire,” the Samuel Goldwyn production of the John Balderston story based on the Irish rebellion, starring Merle Oberon and Brian Aherne, has been changed to “Beloved Enemy.” The supporting cast includes David Niven, Karen Morley, Jerome Cowan, Henry Stephenson and others. H. C, Potter directed the film.
