Wedding of Wide District Interest

MILLAR—WILDE. Attracting much friondly interest, particularly in the Rangitikei and Pahiatua districts, was the wedding which took placo at St. Stephen’s Church, Marton, on December 30, when Hester Amelia, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. J. Wilde, '* of “Nurfield,” Marton, was married to Charles Holmes, youngest son of Mr and Mrs H. Holmes Miller, of “Tauroa,” Ngaturi. The ceremony was performed by liev. W. Raine and Miss Margaret Marshall was organist. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a charming gown of soft white elephant crepe, cut on slender lines with a slight train. A soft white tulle veil falling to the end of the train was held in place with a spray or orange blossom. »She carried a sheaf of Madonna Christmas lilies. Mrs Eric Duncan, of Hunterville, who was matron of honour, wore a red floral gown with a large picture hat, and the two small bridesmaids, Sally Cash and Ann Sherriff, nieces of the bride, were both dressed alike in Kate Greenaway frocks of cream with scarlet sashes of tulle, and wore the same coloured shoes and wreaths of scarlet flowers on their hair.

After the ceremony the guests were entertained at Huntley school where Mr and Mrs Wilde, assisted by Mr and Mrs Sherriff received them. Mrs Wilde was wearing a frock of soft blue and mauve tones with blue hat, and Mrs Sherriff floral brown georgette and a brown hat. Mrs Miller, mother of the bridegroom, was in a black floral frock with a black coat and hat. Mrs F. H. Cash wore a saxe blue floral frock with plain blue coat and a large leghorn hat; Mrs Ernest Miller, green with black hat; Mrs Gerald Wilde, navy blue ensemble; Mrs J. P. Tylee, floral frock with large black hat; and Miss J. Miller, navy blue and white coat and skirt, navy blue hat. -Later in the afternoon Mr and Mrs Holmes Miller left by car, the latter wearing a smart Paisley blue ensemble.
