George, King Penguin, Has Been Jilted

George, the Loudon Zoo’s wellknown king penguin, is a changed bird. For many years he has been extremely popular because ho would go for walks round the enclosure hand-in-hand with children. He loved his keepers and was always docile and obedient. But now all that is over. George has become sour and embittered. He is chilly towards his keepers and he refuses to be polite to his visitors. And the reason for this change is a king penguin known as May. In the old days George was carefree and indifferent to the charms of anv lady king penguin placed in his enclosure. But recently three new king penguins were introduced into the colony and George fell for one of them. He followed her about the pond and paid-her marked attention and for a time all seemed to be going smoothly. Then May became bored, and apparently George suffered such a disappointment that it has altered his outlook on life for the present.
