j PURCHASE OF CATTLE j WHAKATANE, Dec. 5. A total of 1030 head of yearling Polled Angus and Hereford steers was purchased at Whakatane recently from tho East Coast by the management of the Government Galatea Estate. Since !tho recent warm rains, there has been an abnormal growth of grass. The station at present is carrying 5000 cattle and 18,000 sheep. Moro beasts are urgently required to keep the growth down. Tho Galatea Estate disposed of 162 fat bullocks yesterday, and further consignments will soon be ready. The price realised was £ISOO.
