'MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE DEALS WITH VARIOUS MATTERS

Mr. A. M. Ongley presided at last evening’s ' meeting of the management committee of the Manawatu Cricket Association. Others present were Messrs Werry, E. Tottman, W. H. Wilson Gallichan, G. Griggs, K. 011iver.,E. ■ ' D. Weir and R. A. Brace (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr. J. B. Hardic. 11. L. Young's and United applied to have players registered, the requests being given effect to. Midland (Wellington), in reference to the proposed match with Manawatu, suggested that the date mentioned by Manawatu would not suit because of competition games in Wellington and asked Manawatu to suggest one some Lime in January.—The secretary stated lie had written intimating the new date would be advised later. The chairman stated that he had been in Wellington during the week and that a wicket would be available at yilverstream during January. The Wanganui Association wrote seeking a match with a junior A team at Palmerston North on Boxing Day. The chairman wondered if the cricket week would affect many junior players. He suggested that the match should be accepted in tho meantime and that Wanganui could be advised later if Manawatu could not get a team. This was agreed. In Tegard to the proposed match with Horowhonua, it was resolved that the game be played on Saturday "week provided there was no “hold-up" with the club competitions next Saturday. In regard to the senior B and junior A grade competitions, it was decided that they be suspended on Saturday week and that a representative match senior B-junior A be arranged for that day. The junior B club competitions will be continued on December 19. At the request of Mr. Weir, tho necessary permission was given for the junior team to take part in the Christmas ericket week at Napier, and £5 was granted towards the expenses of the team.

Mr. Weir also asked that junior players available for tho trip to Napier advise Mr. Werry as soon as possible. In regard to club competitions, it was resolved that they recommence on January 9. This does not apply to the third grade.
