NEW WING OPENED BY LORD GALWAY Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. The Governor-General, Lord Galway, opened the new wing of the Salvation Army’s Bethany Maternity Hospital this, morning. There was a large gathering of health and hospital authorities. The wing provides 21 more beds additional to the ISI existing in six other such institutions in the Dominion. Lieutenant-Commissioner Adams, in expressing appreciation of the support given by others than officers, thereby bringing the total.to £s,2B6.towards the cost of the new wing, paid a tribute to the Government’s £SOO.

Hon. I’. Fraser spoke warmly of the Government’s appreciation of this work and Mr. T. O. A. Hislop, Mayor of Wellington, spoke enthusiastically of work done by the Salvation Army in the city, stressing its wide field.

Lord Galway welcomed the increasing prevention of mortality in maternity eases and particularly appreciated the work of the Salvation Army in this direction.

The new wing is chiefly for single girls, but contains a number of private beds, which it is hoped will defray the costs of the wing.
