Alanagh, who have recently returned from a honeymoon spent in Australia. There was quite a crowd present and a very enjoyauie evening was spent in dancing, snigmg, ping pong and parlour games. Alter a excellent supper had been served, tne president of the Tennis Club) .Ur E. W. Cowdrey, spoke eulogistieally of tho work that both Air and Mrs Ataiiagli haa done for the ciuu and asked them to accept a brass wood-box as a token of esteem. He also, on behalf l the Hockey Club, presented them with a silver entree dish. Alusical honours were then accorded tne guests of honour. Mr Aj.atia.gn suitably replied. Festivities were then resumed, the party terminating in tho small hours. Sports Club. The New Year's Eve Sports Club held its annual meeting in tho Jubilee nail on Friday evening, vviten tne programme and ouiciais for tne coming sports were finalised. The ptesideiiL, .ur W. S. Rage, was in tho chair. Tne election of officers resulteu:—Biesidem, Air W. S. Rage (reelected); lion, secretary and treasurer, Air At. Wischnowsky (re-elected); assistant secretary, Air E. Williams (re-elected); committee, Messrs Vv'. Davies, E. Vv. Cowurey, J. Curtis, A. AlcNae, J. McKay, G. Burgess, J. S. Alartin and F. Al. Saywell. A meeting of tne Haleombe branch of tho New Zealand .National Party was field on Saturday evening wnen, despite the inclement conditions, there was a fair attendance. The president, Air J. Hamilton, was in the chair. Several circulars irom the parent body, dealing with tho activities of the party were discussed. Mr Hamilton briefly reported on tne meetings ho had attended in Feilding, and stated that tue Oruua branch of the party was Ihe most active in New Zealand, having the largest number of memoers. Air E. W. Barnett, who was one of the delegates who met tho Hon. Adam Hamilton m Feilding recently, detailed what had occurred and stated that he. personally, after meeting Air Hamilton, felt that lie was the right man in the right place. In order to meet expenses the following were appointed to act as a finaneo committee:—Alessrs W. S. Page, J. H. Blunden, J. Hamilton, E. VV. Barnett, 1. AlcEennan and T. Vile. Tennis. On Saturday afternoon the Stanway Tennis Ciub visited Haleombe for a friendly match. Until the rain finished piay for the day late in the afternoon, the games were most enjoyable. 'Afternoon tea was served in the old hall, where the club captain, Air M. C. Amadio, welcomed the visitors, Mr E. Humphrey replying. No singles matches were played and at the time tne games were abandoned, tiie home team was leading by nine sets to one. Appended are the detailed results, Haleombe players being mentioned first:—

Christian and Airs Harvey, 6—2. Tennis Club Dance. , Residents are reminded of the Tennis Club’s dance to be held in the Jubilee hall on Wednesday evening. A strong committee is in charge and a pleasant evening is assured. Cards will be held for non-dancers and lucky door tickets will be issued.
