Drowning Fatality Narrowly Averted

CLOSE CALL FOR YACHTSMEN. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Dec. 7. A drowning fatality was narrowly averted at Wainui Beach yesterday morning, when two young men, Jl. S. Kinder and W. A. Beil, were thrown into the sea 400 yards from the shore. They had gone out in a I2i't. yacht, which capsized and then driftci sCa wards.

When 000 yards from the beach it was decided to abandon tho boat and swim ashoro. This Kinder succeeded in doing, but Bell was soon in difficulties and was half a mile away when he was reached by S. M. MeLernon and D. A. Crooks with a lifeline. All four men were considerably exhausted, but after resting were little the worse for their experience.
