Why peoplo persist in passing on stories without foundation it is hard to understand as it only plays upon the nerves of imaginative people and leads to a lot of worry and anxiety. The fact remains, however, that ever siuco it was recorded some time ago that some irresponsible individual assaulted girls on bicycles, the magnitude and number of his crimes lias increased, according to rumour, at an alarming pace even to boys being strangled. It is all so absurd but has had the effect of alarming womenfolk in particular till now many will not venture out after dark under any consideration.

Thero have been no such eases reported to the polico and the public are advised to pay no heed to thoso circulating such wild rumours.
