Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night

A fairly vigorous westerly depression crossed tho Dominion last night but a secondary is following it across the Tasman Sea. An anti-cyclone has moved on to south-eastern Australia.

Winds: North-westerly at first on parts of the East Coast but elsewhere west to south-west but a change to south-westerlies or southeries becoming general within about 24 hours, moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force in some exposed positions. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough on the West Coast and in the Cook anl Foveaux Strait areas, moderate on the East Coast but rising later south of Castlepoint.

Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong south-westerly winds, seas moderate to rather rough in the northern portion, rather rough to rough in the southern.

Weather: Fine at first in most districts with mild temperatures but cool changeable conditions and passing showers probable with a southerly change. The unsettled weather should not be of long duration.
