Clay Pigeon Shooting

P.N. “GTJNSMEN” NOT AFFECTED BY GUSTY WIND

The Palmerston North Gun Club held a shoot on the club’s grounds on Saturday afternoon. There was rather a strong gusty wind blowing which, kept the shooters on the look out for trouble. The standard of shooting, however, was much better than was expected as seven possibles were registered during the afternoon. The third round of the Luoni Cup was shot off and Messrs. W. A. Thomson, R. Maher, W. W. Cook and A. Barnard each broke all their birds. Three shooters tied in the shoot for Messrs. Millward and Cook’s trophies, W. A. Thomson, F. Farmer and R. Maher each breaking nine clays. In the shoot-olf R. Maher was successful with F. Farmer runner-up. The Yankee shoot was another keenly contested event, Messrs. W. A. Thomson, F. Farmer and R, Maher again getting nine breaks apiece. A sweepstake off 18 yards was divided between L. Maher and W. W. Cook, caefi of them getting a possible of 10 birds.

A first-miss-out was won by W. A. Thomson.

The principal scores during the afternoon were as follow: W. A. Thomson 10 9 1) 9. F. Farmer 9 9 9. R. Maher 10 9 9 9. W. W. Cook 10 G 8 10. L. Maher 8 8 8 10. M. Ivearins 8 8 8. N. Hanson 8 10 6. A. Barnard 10 7.

The annual Christmas shoot will be held next Saturday, and the first “guns” will go into action at 1 p.m.
