Array Officer Arrests Policeman

WAS ACCUSED OF TRESPASSING A Loudon policeman who followed a motorist into Wellington Barracks was, to say the least of it, surprised when ho found himself arrested by a Welsh Guards officer.

Tho constable was taken to the guard room by a military escort. 'Phono wires between the barracks and the Rochester-row police station hummed for a time and the constable was released.

Polieo and Military authorities meet in secret to discuss the facts of the situation—the police to study tne constable’s version, the military authorities to study the officer’s. It is understood that the constable followed tho officer into the barracks and handed him a cautionary note.

But civil and military law do not always see eye to eye—and Wellington Barracks is sacred to the War Department. A dumbfounded, man-in-blue was told firmly that he was trespassing in tho barracks, and off to the guard room ho went.

Meanwhile the War Offieo is neutral. ‘‘We have no knowledge of the facts of the alleged incident," said an official. ‘‘Until wo have had an opportunity of making inquiries we can make no statement."
