Marked progress in the training of pilots has been made by the Manawatu (Middle Districts) Aero Club, and since training operations were resumed in July eight pilots have gained their certificates. The last four members to pass the tests are Messrs. J. C. Fair (Feilding), D. Newmau (Kiwitea), A. Long and 1\ West (Palmerston North). The examining officer was FlyingOfficer £. G. Olson, of Wigram Aerodrome, who was very satisfied with the excellent performances of the candidates. The success of the Kiwitea candidate was outstanding, he having just recently reached the minimum age limit, 17 years, to constitute the club’s youngest pilot. It is expected that ITalf-a-dozen more members will qualify for their certificates in the near future.
