Car Topples Into Sea

BRAKES PAIL TO GRIP Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 4. When Mr. G. A. Halford was moving a stationary motor-car forward on the edge of the w-aterfront roadway last night, the brakes failed to grip and the car toppled into 12 feet of water. The driver managed to break open one of the doors and rise to the surface and scramble on Jo the rocks. He suffered no ill effects. Two yachtsmen rowed to his assistance. The car was still under water with the tail-light glowing when they arrived.
