Dannevirke A. and P. Association

At yesterday’s meeting of the Daunevirke A. and P. Association a letter from the private secretary of his Excellency the Governor-General advised that Lord Galway appreciated the invitation to attend the show on People’s Day but doubted whether he could accept it because of being committed to other invitations about that time. However, if circumstances permitted he would be jffeased to attend. An offer by Messrs. Collinson and Cunninghame, Palmerston North, to donate a challenge trophy for a school team of ponies class was accepted, and it was agreed that there be cash prizes of 10s, 7s Gd and ss. Messrs. Barraud and Abraham, Dannevirke, have given a challenge cup for the calf rearing section.—This was accepted gratefully and the Calf Club will be asked to state which class it prefers the trophy to be allocated to. Miss Gladys Guthrio offered a donation of £2 on condition that a class is introduced for two cobs, 15 hands and under, to bo ridden and judged as a pair.—Agreed to. Some discussion took placo on the desirability of making all sheep classes natural condition. On the motion of Mr. G. J. J. Buchanan, seconded by Mr. H. T. Ellingliam, it was decided to suggest tn the Southdown and Romney Breed Societies and the Royal Agricultural Association that trimming and "faking” of show and ram fair sheep be not allowed.

The next meeting will be held on January 14.
