Delicious Humour Claimed for "Bunker Bean”

CELEBRATED DICTION WORK EXCELLENTLY SCREENED (Kosy: Screening To-day.) One of the offices which the screen performs for us, for which we are grateful, is to bring us in moving reality the personages oi action or drama for whom we have long harboured affection, and, in whom we take lively interest. This task is splendidly performed in the case of that favourite creation of Harry Leon Wilson wherein we follow the fortunes of “Bunker Bean,” who is now speaking from the screen in a mirthful and entertaining RKO Radio photoplay. This story has entertained hosts of readers and playgoers through twa generations. Yet—as evidenced in the screen play—it is as new and as modern as to-day's news. It is the old story of the worm turning, of tho meek man finding himself and becoming the roaring lion where he had been formerly tho bleating lamb. The fact that a delicious juvenilo romance underlies and accompanies this metamorphosis, makes “Bunker Bean’ all the more acceptable faro for tho fans. Its humour is delicious! Bunker Bean as portrayed by young Owen Davis Jr., son of the noted playwright of the same name, appeals to all with his thoroughly human portrayal of the man who found himself in time to capture the girl of his choice and to fling defiance in tho face of his once-dreaded boss. Louise Latimer, as tho girl whoso love helps Bunker win through, is a captivating young recruit from the New York dramatic stage, comely of person and talented. Supporting these two youthful leading players is a company of veterans and favourite players, with Robert McWade, Jessie Ralph, Berton Churchill, Hedda Hopper, Ferdinand Gottschalk and others well known to movie-goers. The picture is a merry and romantic comedy, not untouched b} ■keen satire, of which its famous author is a master.
