Takaro Progressive Association

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY. The annual Christmas party for children of the Takaro district was held on Saturday night, somo two hundred odd children gathering at the Takaro Hall for the usual good time. Games, community sings, lucky spots and dancing were indulged in.

An interesting feature of the evening was the splendid display of acrobatics and pyramid building by the Y.M.C.A. junior girls, the Misses Joan Watchorn, Jill Rolling, Lois Pullyn, Betty Hill, Eileen Tucker, Ann Flood. Much credit is duo their instructor, Mr. Geo. Foster, for his patient training. A pretty display of the log cabin dance was given by the girls of the district. An ever-popular friend, Mr. Jack Flowers, and his ventriloquial doll, were heartily applauded by the children. Much delight was given the younger set and likewise the grown-ups, by the doll answering questions, singing funny nursery rhymes and telling stories, the children letting him go on condition he make a further appearance later in the evening. Something new in the way of entertainment was provided for tho' children by Mr. Blake, who gave a clever display of conjuring. Prizes were won by children of varying ages for different games. Towards the close of tho evening. supper was provided by-the ladies’ committee to whom many thanks are due. Thanks are duo tho Misses Jordan for their kindly donation of the milk for supper.
