Increased Cate Takings At Spring Show
REPORT MADE TO ASSOCIATION.
“Once more I am able to record an increase in the takings as compared with several past years,” stated the chief gate steward (Mr. T. A. Hastings) in a report which came before a •meeting of the general committee of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and I’. Association yesterday. “The total for the three days was £1350, an increase over the previous November show of £197. “The following table gives the comparative figures ,for the past four
•'Admissions by ticket totalled 11,589, compared with 10,345 the previous year. The big increase in membership would' account for a good deal . of the difference. “The lack of some form of - cnter- !■ tainmcnt or excitement was reflected in f. tli© hinall jiakings on'the two stands on : HhffVfirst-day. Tho open-air stand rcaTised"£2H'.s '6d, and the people’s stand ■ •£s, avtotaL pf •£2 11s Gd. This amount j did'u.bt pay. tho wages of the four men L* employed on them. Tho second day, however, proved very much better, the open-air one returned £IG 3s 6d and the people’s £6 ss. The third day tho members’ stand realised £IOO 3s Gd, and the people’s £7 9s Gd. The total for both stands for, the three days was £132 13s, compared with £35 12s last year. Car Parking on Booked Spaces. ', u .rCar .parking on special numbered po* ,- Bilious, pn f th@,J3howgrouuds is, in my „» opinion,- • -quite unsatisfactory, You - have, the services of one man the, day <•' before the -show marking out the different spaces, and three men together >* with Air, James, the Automobile Association’s service officer for the three days of the show, and the .total revenue from ,-this 4 source was £4 7s Gd, less than the amount paid in wages. Many ' 'people iappxdciate having a fixed pojyut:;apparently are not prepared io pay a: compensating fee for tho privilege. Members and the public should be encouraged to park in the grounds, '.Owheferhot water is always • available ffee •for tea, etc., but everyone should, until a better system is devised, pay Is each day and bo allowed to park in the most suitable spaces available from time to time. ’ “I think the time has arrived when ladies’ members’ tickets should be made the same as those given during the wine ter. -show. Many ladies desire to send . their friends-a; ticket for the show, but this cannot"bc done with those issued jJt dtitheCsprihg jshow. More uniformity in the ti'eketCissue is needed, and 1 - ,: -fenow fhat the secretary agrees with me '' ©S ' ' “I. sincerely trust that, as soon as

were referred to a special committee for investigation and a-report.
