From Our Own Correspondent Foxton Tennis Club.

Mr. It. Read presided over a committee meeting of the Foxton Tennis Club held on Monday. Also present were Mrs. V. Husband, Misses M. Thynne and J. Francis, and Messrs. A. Anderson (club captain), M. Baird (hon. treasurer) and D. Sneirs (hon. secretary). The following new members were elected: Misses 13. McKenzie, J. Barry and R. Bennett and Messrs. A. Martin, V. Bowden, E. Ellenden and N. Reader. A discussion ensued concerning a proposed reduction In subscription for country members and it was finally decided that country members, residing outside a radius of ten miles, should be charged as follows: Ladies, 12s 6d; men. £l. Repertory Society Formed. A meeting for the purpose of inaugurating a repertory society was held at the residence of Mrs. H. A. Hannay, of Purcell street, and was well attended. Mr. M. E. Perreau occupied the chair, and also present were Mesdames M. E. Perreau, D. R. Barron, J. M. Thomson, .1. T. Edwards, H. A. Hannay, Misses E. McKenzie, U. Thomson, 0. Allen and Messrs. M. E. Perreau, D. R. Barron, 11. Hinds and .T. T. Edwards. A number of apologies for absenco were received. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr. J. K. Hornblow; president, Mr. M. E. Perreau; vice-presidents, Messrs. D. R. Barron, H. Hinds, R. X. Speirs and A. P. Easton; committee, Mesdames D. R. Barron, M. E. Perreau and J. M. Thomson, Misses G. Allen and U. Thomson, Messrs. Barron, Hinds and Edwards, with power to add: secretary and treasurer, Mrs 11. A. Hannay; lion, auditor, Mr. W. Trueman. It was decided to hold not less than two entertainments each year. In order to enable the society to commence operations next season on a financial footing, it was decided to hold an entertainment on Octber 20. Enjoyable Dance. Tho final of a series of "good news’’ dances, organised by a committee of members of St. Mary’s Church, too place on Tuesday evening, and proved to be most enjoyable and successful. There was an excellent attendance of dancers, including visitors from the surrounding district. Mr. F. C. Brady officiated as M.C. in a capable manner, and the music was supplied by a popular professional orchestra. Novelty and confetti dances added to the enjoyment of patrons and extra dance numbers were played by .Air. L. Mattar. A competition held during the evening was won by Mr. D. Halidone.
