Mr. A. H. Northovcr, stationmastcr at Palmerston North, has returned to duty following an absenco on annual leave. <s><s><s>«> Mr. J. Hodgens, M.P., performed his first public duty in Palmerston North on Satruday, when he opened the new dental clinic at College Street School. It was a coincidence, he interestingly recalled, that he had started public life as a member of hlio College Street School committee about 1913. ■ «> <S> <3> Mr. J, Hodgens, M.P., has been advised that tho Treasury has approved of tho payment as subsidy to tho Palmerston North River Board, of a sum of £4lO so that the board may keep certain members of its staff in full employment for three months and other members twelve' months.
Mr. and Mrs. Reginald J. Annan, missionaries from Ethiopia (Abyssinia) who are visiting Palmerston North, are the guests of Rev. J. S. and Mrs. Pate, Rainforth street, Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. Annan have had five or six years’ experience in that interesting country. Mr. J. P. Hayward, who is tho home secretary of the mission, is also paying a visit to Palmerston North.
