Mesdamcs H. Brooker and W. G. Booth aro back in Cheltenham after a round trip of the north.
Miss Ngairo Williamson, of Colyton, has been the guest for a week of Miss Dora Wild at Pukorua Bay.
■ Miss E. Booth, of Cheltenham, left by car on Monday to spend a holiday in Napier, after winch she will journey on to stay for some time at fauranga.
Miss Beth Parkes and partner wilt visit Otaki on Wednesday next to give a ballroom demonstration at the Bowling Club ball.
Miss J. Grant, Hastings, who has been visiting in Woodville and Palmerston North left yesterday on her return to Hawke’s Bay.
Miss Ida Mandoville, of Mallow Ireland, arrived in Now Zealand last week and is staying with her sister, Mrs A. L. Turner, Pori, Pahiatua.
Miss Dorothy Turner returned to Palmerston North yesterday after spending some months with her brother, Mr A. L. Turner and Mrs Turner, at Pori, Pahiatua.
Mrs Mary Ann Bellringer, who passed away at New Plymouth on Saturday, was the grandmother of Mrs C. F. A. Waters, of Ivowhai Avenue, Palmerston North.
Miss Bay Wilson, of “Fleetwood” station, Oarnaru, is spending several weeks in Fcilding and is the guest of Mrs. A. C. McCorkindalc, Nelson street.
Mr and Mrs T. S. Kingston and Miss Pat Kingston, of Hamilton, who have been the guests of Mr and Mrs C. L. Mowlem for somo timo past, will be leaving for Napier shortly where they intend to rcsido in future.'
Following tho re-election of Mrs. C. King as president of the Palmerston North Girl Guides’ Association last evening, Mrs. G. A. Eliott, District Commissioner, said the position of president in such organisations was no sinecure. Mrs. King was called upon to fullil many duties of which tho public was unaware and these she always carried out willingly and wen..
Tho death occurred last Tuesday, at the Homo of Our Lady of Compassion, Islan/1 Bay, of Sister Mary Philomcna, known before she entered tho homo as Jane Quillinan. Born at Mangaonoho, near Hunterville, in 189-i, sho took her vows more than a dozen years ago. As her work lay principally in the surgical department of the hospital at the Home of Compassion, sho came in contact with a great many people, and was well known and held in high affection and esteem.
