Miss M. Diederich, of Palmerston North, was highly commended for her performance in tho popular vocal solo class at the Wellington Competitions on Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. D. Melnness havo returned to their homo in Auckland after a visit to their son and daughtor-m-law, Mr. and Mrs. D. 11. Melnness, of Derby street, Fcilding.
Mrs. E. Kelso, Dominion organiser for tho New Zealand Women’s Institutes, and Mrs. C. Iv. Wilson, of Pio Pio, King Country, Dominion president of the Women’s Division of tho Farmers’ Union, attended tho conference called by the Prime Minister in Wellington, last week, in regard to matters affecting tho Maori race.
