YEELDING SALE

Dalgety and Company Limited, report on their Feilding sale held on Friday; —Heavy entries of hoggets formed the major portion of the sheep entry. Tho quality was good particularly for ewe hoggets, of which some well bred lines wero submitted. Tho attendance was good with sound competition throughout with prices generally at a higher range than recent sales. Mr. B. y. Lawrence, of Sanson, ior whom wo advertised two straight earmark lines, realised 34s and 36s respectively. Breeding ewes were confined to an odd pen as tho lambing season is at hand. Fat sheep were in medium supply and met with strong competition ior finished lots. Another large entry of dairy eat tie, the quality of which was only medium met a fair demand and sold at latest rates. In the beef pens some nice quality steers sold to good competition and the sale of dairy fats was considerably stronger. Only an odd pen of station store cattle was offered. They quote: — Fat hoggets, 21s 6d, 255; fat ewes, 255; fat wethers, 29s 6d; b.f. hoggets, 18s, 19s 3d, 20s Sd; wether hoggets, 20s, 245; ewe hoggets, 27s Bd, 2Ss 6d, 31s Gd, 34s to 30s; 2, -4 and 0-th. ewes, r.w. Messrs. Abraham and Williams Ltd., report heavy' yardings in tho store sheep section with u short one in fat sheep at the weekly Feiluing sale. A heavy yarding of dairy cattle was also submitted with an average one of beef and run bred cattle.

The store sheep submitted were comprised principally of ewe and wether hoggets, these attracting a largo number of outside buyers and in this section they report one of the keenest sales held so far this season for hoggets of both sexes.

Just odd pens of breeding ewes came to hand, the quality being just fair; consequently the demand for these was not strong. Fat sheep wero penned m short supply with the quality good; consequently an excellent sale resulted in this section.

A heavy yarding of dairy cows and heifers were again yarded, anything showing quality sold readily whereas backward sorts were practically neglected. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Co. Ltd., report having offered a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle to a good attendance of the public. Competition was keen throughout all lots being sold at prices well up to late rates. We report the following sales:—Fat hoggets 22s 4d; wether hoggets, 14s 7d, 19s Id to 20s Id; fat Jersey cows, £3 15s, £3 17s Od to £4; fat Jersey heifers, £2 17s 6d to £3 11 s; fat and forward bullocks, £S 15s; 2-yr. Association Ltd., report on the Danuevirkc sale held on Thursday, August 13, as uuder:— They offered a good yarding of both sheep and eattle to a large attendance. Sliccp prices were fully maintained while dairy cows and heifers showed a slight advance on last week’s rates. Our chief sales comprise the following:— .
