EUSII UNION RUGBY ATE AIRS. Tho fortnightly meeting ol‘ the Bush Union was held in Pahiatua on Tuesday evening, Mr W. J. Henderson presiding. Others present were Messrs V. Brown, M. Rcichenbach, J. Waters, W. Bond, 0. Stone, E. J. Smith and the secretary (Mr G. L. Chatwin). A minute was placed on the records awarding the third grade championship to Athletic. Mr Henderson reported on the hospitable manner in which Horowhenua had entertained the Bush juniors during their visit to O.taki recently. He added that Mr Gillespie, of tho Horowhenua Union, had offered to donate a cup for competition between Bush and Horowhenua juniors. The secretary was instructed to write and thank Mr Gillespie for his generous and sporting offer, which the Bush Union would be pleased to accept. Mr M. Crane, for the Referees’ Association, wrote complaining that Nircaha and Konini had not paid their

referees' fees, nor would any club answer any correspondence on the matter. The secretary said that Konini had not even paid their entrance fees. After some discussion, the secretary was instructed to writo to both clubs and try to obtain the money owing. It was decided that a telegram of congratulation bo sent to the (Southland liugby football Union on the occasion of their jubilee, which takes place this mouth. Mr Henderson moved that the .secretary approach the Kailway Department in an effort to arrange transport to and from Mastcrton on the occasion of the Eush-Wairarapa v. New (South Wales game. The secretary reported that Maltawatu could not play until the ond of September and in view of this it was decided to abandon the game this year. It was decided to ask the Puketoi Sub-Union to . play Bush at Pahiatua on Saturday, August 29. The secretary’s action in arranging the curtain-raiser for yesterday, Ngaluri v. Hukanui juniors for the Studebaker cup, was endorsed. It was agreed that the secretary try and .arrange a game for the junior representatives with Wairarapa before the season closes. Mr Beichenbach said that three players had been hurt in representative fixtures and asked if tho union would pay any compensation.
