Kimbolton Township'
BUSINESS INTERESTS REFLECT RECOVERY. Kimbolton township has suffered both ups and downs. For a period it was considered that district interests were finding another centre far away from I home, and when the motor-car came it ! appeared that the service the township 'once rendered the community would be 'lost in the outside attractions and in 'the claims of the bigger centres. How--1 ever, to-day the township is once more ' welcoming a return to brighter times and there is presumably a delinite swing back towards the business activities of the town. The changing needs of the community are represented in motor garages, which have displaced the old wheelright establishment which was once a very necessary business in the early days. In the days before home 'separation, when the milk had to be ' conveyed to the creamery, there was considerable horse-drawn traffic on the roads and the needs were considerable in matters affecting the business of the farrier and the wheelright. The blacksmith and farrier remains and to-day is still making the familiar konaki, which is finding a new demand in its serviceability for modern farm methods against its old-time use on unmetalled tracks. The wheelright business has given way to the motor garage ot which Kimbolton, as illustrating the demands upon this service, possesses two establishments as well as many bowsers for hungry engines. Of the several stores the oldest is that of Mr Hansen and this has changed from the original establishment and the several that offer service to-day are up to date in every respect. The original bakery remains but in new hands as does the original butchery business. The township is certainly brighter and business interests combine in the jubilee celebrations to make their announcements in these columns this morning.
