LOSS ON YEAR OWING TO STORM DAMAGE The report to bo submitted by the president (Mr. C. Louisson) at the annual general meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club is as follows: “Your committeo present herewith the fifty-sixth annual report and statement of accounts for the financial year ending June 30, 1936. “The totalizator turnover for the year amounted to £87,145, an increase of £5092 10s on the previous year. “The amount given in stakes was £7055, an increase of £460 on the amount given for the £1934-35 season. ' ‘ The club met with a serious loss in February of this year, when the buildings and appointments at the Awapuni racecourse were damaged during the hurricane to the extent of £3597 15s 9d. The buildings and fencing have now been re-instated and the racecourse is again in good order. In consequence of the renovations carried out to all appointments it is not considered necessary to write off any depreciation this year. “After allowing for this amount of £3597 15s 9d for repairing storm damages the income and expenditure account shows a loss on the year’s working of £2129 ISs 7d. “The training tracks and facilities have been kept in good order. “Your committee record with deep regret the death during the year of Mr. D. Pringle, who was one of tthe early secretaries of the club also honorary treasurer, and a valued member of the committee for many years, also'Mr. W. Randell, clerk of the scales for 41 years and a valued member of committee, and the following members, Messrs. W. D. Buick, J. Knight, A. Reid, W. M. Tapp, and T. Saunders. “Your committee desire to thank the honorary officials and permanent staff for tihe capable way in which their duties were performed.”
