The retrial of Isabel Annie Aves, alias Craike, of Hastings, on charges of unlawfully using an instrument, is to take place at the next criminal sessions of the Supremo Court at Wellington. An order to this effect was made by Mr Justice Blair on Monday morning, on the application of the Crown prosecutor, Mr. it. B. Lusk, Mr. C. G. Barker opposing. Bail of £IOOO, with two sureties of £3OO, was allowed. A doctor points out that it is the normal things for babies to herald their entry into world with a lot of noise. Life, in fact, begins at forte.
A Putaruru case of quintuplets was discovered last week, when Mr. P. Mason, manager of the Bank of New Zealand farm at Tokoroa, found that a ewe on the property had gi en birth to five lambs (reports the "Star’s" Putaruru correspondent). A 1 were healthy, and the mother was in excellent condition. The birth of quintuplets in sheep is extremely rare, and Mr Mason had heard of only one previoi’" case. Many car accidents, wj are told, are caused by defective brakes. And then there’s the tight knut at the wheel with a screw loose.
