Drainage Matters In Kairanga County

RECONSTITUTION OF BOARD’S AREA SUGGESTED

“The requests to the council to have drains (not watertables) deepened and cleaned call for some definite stand by the council as to' its liability to clean drains on the road to give drainage to

farm lands/’’ stated the engineer (Mr.. L. C. Pickering) in his monthly report to the Kairanga County Council yesterday, “Both outside and within the Drainage Board area, several requests have been made to this council to have large drains cleaned out. Judging by the requests for drainage assistance outside the Drainage Board area, it seems certain that, in the near future, a scheme for the reconstitution of the board’s area, embodying these districts, will have to be formulated.”

When the council was considering the correspondence, Cr. J. Smith commented that it seemed that the letters dealt more with drainage matters than county business. There was no further comment.
