NORTH v. SOUTH TRIAL MATCH The big attraction in the Rugby world to-moronv is the representative trial match to be played at Rugby park at 3 p.m. Teams from the two Feilding clubs will come down to tryconclusions with the elect of Palmerston North. Keen rivalry exists as to which is the better team, and who play the better football, but one can only- prove this by witnessing the match to be played at Rugby- park. With the best players in the district taking part, Rugby of the brightest and best should be witnessed. A keen fight is on between the play-ers these days, for one and all arc striving their utmost to gain a place in the team to tour the South Island, also to attempt the lifting of that coveted trophy of Rugby, the Ranfurly Shield. With this end in view the players will certainly be giving of their best to catch the selectors’ eye. This match will bo preceded at 1.30 by the junior match, Kia Toa v. Massey College, and in addition all tho junior, third and lower grade matches will also bo played on Rugby park, so a grand afternoon’s entertainment is promised. The world’s largest port, London, now deals with moro traffic than any other two British ports combined. In the year just ended, 15,000 ships arrived from British ports; of these 50 per cent were British vessels. Dogs forced the town councillors of Szeged, in Southern Hungary, to alter a by-law increasing the dog tax, after chasing them round the council room. Dog-owners assembled outside the town hall and, forcing their way in, let loose their dogs.
