PERSONALITIES
After IS years as chairman of tho Auckland Hospital Board, Mr William Wallaco was defeated for the position at the annual meeting of tho board. Rev. W. C. Wood was elected chairman by six votes to five. Mr Wood lias been chairman of the relict' committee of the board. The death occurred in Christchurch suddenly yesterday of Mr. John Owen Jameson, aged 00 years. He was formerly a member of the Stock Exchange for ‘Jo years. Mr. Jameson dropped dead when boarding a tramcar on Sea view road, New Brighton, yesterday afternoon. Last year ho had a severe illness from which he had not completely recovered.
