Car Tips Dancing Party Info Creek

Three Suffer Injury

ACCIDENT NEAR AVOODVILLE

Instead of ending their motor ride at a dance in Woodvillo last night a party of Iviritaki residents found themselves emptied into tho chilly waters of a stream on tho main highway between Daunevirko and Woodvillo, three ■ of the party eventually landing in the Daunevirko hospital. Mr Cyril Albert ,White, 2G years of age, a sharemilker for Mr H. B. Pairbrother, of Iviritaki, sot out with five other passengers to attend a dance at Woodvillc, but when about four miles from his destination on the main highway his two-door Pontiac collided with a bridgo near Mr T. J. Busst’s farm at Papatawa.

The party were hurled out of the car into the creek ten feet below, and presented a sorry spectacle when help arrived, most of them’ being well drenched and at least three suffering painful injuries. A sixteen-year-old youth, T. Driukwatcr, is believed to havo suffered a broken leg, while two young ladies, Misses Maisio Drinkwater and Jane Maguire, received cuts and bruises and suffered front shock. Tho other two passengers, Messrs B. Macaluiu, who works for Mr White, and Richard Johnston, of Danncvirke, sustained minor injuries, but the driver, Mr White, apparently escaped unhurt.

Tho ambulance was called in and three of the sufferers wero taken to the Dannevirko hospital. Tho car, which was a 1927 model, was badly smashed by its contact with the bridge.
