Fresh Easterly Winds Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. An intense anti-cyclone, centred east of Tasmania, extends on to New Zealand, but the pressure is low to the south-east, and a aeries of depressions continues to pass to the north of the Dominion. AVinds: Southerly to south-easterly, moderate mainly, but freshening at times about and north of Cook Strait and reaching gale force at places in the northern and north-eastern portions of the North Island.
Seas (New Zealand waters): High on the east coast of the Auckland Peninsula, and rough north of East Cape and also off-shore north of Cape Egmont; elsewhere moderate, but with a considerable southerly swell south of East Cape. Eastern Tasman Sea: Easterly to south-easterly winds, strong in the northern portion with rough seas; moderate in the southern portion with moderate seas.
Weather: Some scattered rains in the northern half of the North Island, with some heavy falls in the far north. Light showers probable also at isolated places on the east coast south of East Cape; otherwise fair to fine and cold.
