ACTS OE JEALOUS HUSBAND A husband at a village near Srnederevo, Yugoslavia, was so jealous of his wife that he forbade her to wash, for fear other men should see her beauty; and shaved oil her hair and eyebrows. Recently he was brought before the courts at Smcdercvo, charged with disfiguring his wife and attempting to murder his brother-in-law when the‘ latter took the part of his sister. Shorn ' of her hair and eyebrows, the wife never left her house, as she was ashamed to be seen. . ' The husband, Stannnir Zhivotitch, of Seonu, was sentenced to four months' imprisonment for tbo attempted murder and lined £3 for shaving his wife, the judge remarking that the hair would grow again. - Stanimir’s wife, Stana, was also brought before the Court and charged .■ with cutting her husband’s jaw with an axe. She did this when she was cnraged with his treatment of her. She was sentenced to one month’s imprison- , ment.
