Ihc discovery of another note on the hall iloor reading “This English agent sent 52 Irishmen to the EngUsu forces in the last seven weens,' 1 confirms the motive of the murder of Vice-Admiral Somerville, yet there was not tiie slightest justification that ho was a recruiting agent. He held aloof from all politics and never canvassed for naval recruits uud could not prevent young men from seeking advice from him as a naval man, which ho regarded as an inevitable rather than troublesome duty.
