Changeable and Squally

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night.

The northern cyclone is passing southeastwards oil' the North Island, but a westerly depression is advancing rapidly on to the South Island. Winds: South-westerly to westerly north of New Plymouth and Castlepoint; elsewhere north-westerly to westerly, moderate to strong generally and rising to gale force at places about and south of Cook Strait. Winds becoming westerly to south-westerly generally within the next 21 hours.

Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough lo high north of Cape Egmont and Castlepoint, rough south of Farewell Spit and Foveaux Strait; elsewhere moderate, but with a considerable swell. Eastern Tasman Sea: Westerly winds, backing to south-westerly; moderate to strong generally and of gale force in the southern portion. Seas rough. Weather: Changeable and squally with rain at times, but mainly in districts with a westerly aspect. Some heavy falls are probable on the West Coast of the South Island. Temperatures moderate.
