AWAHURI ' There was a large attendance at the annual meeting., Mrs E. 0. Bond presided and welcomed the visitors and also a new member.' The birthday function showed a' credit balance of £2 9s. The competition for the Blind Institute resulted in £1 9s being raised. Birthday cake was distributed to all absent members. The- annual report asd treasurer’s report wore read and adopted, both reports being very favourably commented upon. The president’s report made special mention of the flower competition, of the stewards who had prepared the hall each month; of Misses Bennett and Henderson (stall-holders); the secretary (Mrs Hcsderson); the treasurer (Mrs Nicholson); and also thanked all members for their loyal supi port, the Press for their valuable space i each mouth, and all who had assisted ! in any way to have made the year such a successful and happy one. Only 14 names were received.for the committee, there being no election. The committee ! comprises Mesdanies E. 0. Bond, H. Bennett, R. Henderson, W. Redmayue, P. Simpson, H. Port, M. Rowlands, M. Bennett, A. H. Goodman, R. Christian, Nicholson, Mail', C. Thompson and Miss D. Matthews. The vice-presidents elected were Mesdanies Simpson and Eedmayne. The president, Mrs E. 0. Bond, was rc-elected unopposed. At this juncture Mrs MacCallum, in a few wellchosen words, presented Mrs Bond with a beautiful salad bowl. Tokens were also presented to Mrs Henderson and Airs Nicholson for their good services, so capably given. Home and Country correspondent, Aliss Aloore; Press correspondent, Airs A. 11. Goodman; hall stewards, Alisses Bates, Henderson, Goulden and Aloore; flower competition, Aliss Pearce; cooking competition, Airs Christain; faneywork, Airs Nutt; hostess steward, Airs Rowland; Blind Institute Birthday steward, Airs H. Bennett. It was decided to award first, second and third points prizes at the end of the year for all'competitions. A roil call for suggestions for the programme for the coming year brought good response. Alcsdames Bond, Nicholson and Aliss Alatthews were elected to draw up the programme for the year. Next month’s competitions will bo for a knitted teacosy, a plate of scones (2 plain, 2 sultana), and a vase of flowers. The demonstrations will be “Pictures from chocolate papers.” Airs Redmayne was elected as delegate to the Dominion conference. The points’ prize for monthly competitions Was won by Airs W. AlacCallum. In the flower competitions, a very pleasant surprise was sprung on members, three prizes being presented instead of one. The lirst prize, presented by Airs Bond, was won by Airs Nicholson; the second prize, also presented by Airs Bond, was won by Aliss D. Alatthews; the third prize, presented by Airs A. Goodman, was won by Airs AlacCallum. Small gifts wore handed to Alisses Henderson, Bennett asd Dowsett, the latter having moved to Pahiatua. The potato competition was won by Aliss E. Henson.- All potatoes received were sold, and all those who had not brought their were asked to do so at next meeting. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Aliss Stephens for kindly auditing the books. The hostesses were Afesdames Christain, Redmayne, Alisses Aloore and Alitchell. A short committee meeting was held and Aliss D. Alatthews was elected secretary, and Airs Nicholson treasurer. It was also decided to hold committee meetings before ordinary monthly meetings when possible.
