COURT MANAWATU, A.O.F. The fortnightly meeting of Court Manawntu was held this week, C.R. Bro. W. R. Edwards presiding over a fair attendance ,of members and visitors. A vote of sympathy was extended to the relatives of the late Bro. C. W. Giles, the Court standing in silence. Although the late brother was a member of Court Woodville, he had filled various offices in this Court, and at one time was the representative on tfic Friendly Council. A largo number of brothers paid their last respects at the funeral on Sunday afternoon, when P.C.R. Bro. Burns read tho Foresters’ service at the graveside. In the passing of the late brother his Court had lost an old and respected member whose place will be hard to fill. Court llincmoa’s request for the use of the hall on Saturday afternoon was granted. A set of rules in connection with the formation of a juvenile court was read by tho secretary, and after a few minor amendments had been made they were adopted. P.C.R.’s Bros. Hancock and Holgerson were elected delegates to re present the Court on the Friendly Societies Council. By the vacancy caused in the office of J.W., nominations were called to fill the position and after a ballot Bro. Prentice was declared elected. P.C.R. Bro. Lord reported on the results of a game of bowls played.for tho Friendly Societies’ Shield and stated that although it had been a wellcontested gamo his teams had been successful in winning by the small margin of five points. With a game to play, against Acorn Lodge at a later daet, this Oourt will have completed its number of games for the shield. To dale it has only suffered defeat against the sister, court, Court Hinemoa. A vote of thanks was extended to the visitors and all retired to the supper room, where supper had been prepared by the stewards. OROUA LODGE OF DRUIDS. At the fortnightly meeting of the Oroua Lodge of Druids, held in the Oddfellows’ hall, Cuba street, Bro. R. Chatfield presided over a good attendance of members. Two challenges were received for the Lodge bowls cup, from Acorn and the Pioneer lodges, and were handed over to the bowls committee. It was decided to make a donation to the Plunket Society. P.A. Bro. Paris reported on the carpet bowls being played between lodge nights. It-was decided to enter ono rink at the forthcoming F.S. council’s tourney on Easter Monday. The council lias been granted the use of two sets of bowls and carpets for the tourney. Owing to the amount of work that would be necessary to replace should any of the honours boards be lost or destroyed at any time, the secretary is to arrange for a photograph to be taken of all the honours boards and also tho roll of honour.

It was proposed to make a trip to Pahiatua Lodge in tho near future, and in order to assure a large muster of local members making the trip it was decided that Oroua Lodge subsidise the fare on a liberal scale.

After the closing of lodge business the syllabus item was proceeded with and several good impromptu speeches were made. After a dainty supper, served by the sisters, games of bowls and cards were enjoyed by all.
