Various shipping companies have been asked to tell the masters of iheir vessels that we are experiencing a water shortage at present, and we can only supply the minimum requirements of ships. The tug Awarua is equipped with an evaporator and this will bo brought into operation to save the fresh, water. The level of the reservoir is very low and only a heav y rainfall can prevent the position from becoming very serious.”
