SILVER RING’S CLASS “BETTER THAN LIMERICK” United Press Association —By 1 Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, March 24. A. E. Ellis, who arrived on the Monowai with Silver Ring, said: “Silver Ring is a better handicap horse than Limerick. I believe he will rise superior to the best weight-for-r.ge stayers in Australia, and the horse 1 fear is Sylvanadle, not Peter Pan. 1 have never known a horse to make greater improvement than Silver Ring has. When he came back last spring He was jaded and looked to have deteriorated considerably.” ' Ellis added that the decision to send Silver Ring to Australia was male only last week, because it wa3 realised that weight would prevent further New Zealand victories. Silver Ring will probably have his first race in the Chipping Norton Stakes at Warwick Farm next Saturday week. He has also been nominated for all weight-for age races at the A.J.C. autumn meeting. CUSTOS MAY BE SOLD SYDNEY, March 24. The Daily Telegraph says that a Sydney owner is negotiating for the purchase of the New Zealand two-year-old Custos. The paper adds that the prospective purchaser is a newcomer to racing and from all accounts, if the sale is completed, he will secure a colt that is likely to develop Derby form next season. Good New Zealand judges look upon Custos as a certain stayer, and one likely to improve with age. Brisbane Yearling Sales Received Tuesday, Midnight. BRISBANE, March 24. At the annual yearling sales at Brisbane 74 changed hands for 9155 guineas. The ton price, paid for a Spearfelt colt, was 430 guineas, while eight yearlings by The Buzzard averaged 173. j guineas, five by Rivoli 140 guineas, and 15 by Spearfelt 140gns.
