Mrs. J. A. Green and Miss June Green, of Cunninghams, have returned home after spending three weeks' holiday in the South Island.

Mr and Hrs I. A. G. McCulloch, of Christchurch, are tho guests of Mrs McCulloch’s parents, Mr and Mrs W. J. Nicholls, Colombo Street, Palmerston North.

Miss Joan Buchanan, secretary to Mr Ivan Menzies, tho noted comedian of the. Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, and Miss Marjorie Davidson, member of tho chorus, are tho guests of Mrs Howley, Ferguson street, during the company’s visit to the city.

Miss Lorna Byrne, who is in charge of the women’s section of tho Department of Agriculture, Sydney, will leave next month for England and the Continent, where she is study organisations for the education of farmers and farm women. Miss Byrno was one of ■ the first two women to take a course in agricultural science and graduate at an Australian university, but many have since followed in her footsteps, and many are now controlling tliev own farms.

To-day marks tho festival in commemoration of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is regarded as Mothers’ Union Day. A festival is, being held in Wanganui to-day under the auspices of tho Mothers’ Union, which will be attended by 20 members of All Saints ’ branch. Mrs. G. Y. Woodward will head the Palmerston North party and Mrs. H. G. Bagnall, Mrs. E. Dawick (vice-presidents), and Mrs. N. J. Metcalfe (secretary), will also attend.
