Churches Hold Floral Fete. A successful tloral fete In aid of the funds of the Anglican and Alelhodist Churches was lielu m the town hull, Sunsoil, when mere was an excellent attendance. The lete took tne place of the annual garden parly and no 'clitoris were spared to cater ioi the enjoyment of both young and old. A beauliiul display ol' dahlias was on view mini the nursery oi Air F. Allison, of Feildiug, these being greatly admired by the largo number present. Airs 11. R. Master, of Sanson, also added lo the flo:ut attractions with a display of zinnias and asters. Competitions were held for floral decorations, baking and vegeablos. Ails W. Phillips (Palmerston North) kindly acted as judge for the floral and cookery section and Mrs W. J. Croueher (Palmerston North) lor the vegetables. During the evening a bright and varied programme was presented by the King-VVingate concert party. A novelty in the form of a ball ami bucket competition drew a large number of entries as did tlie nail-driving and clock golf competition. The supper arrangements were in the capable hands of Aliases Penny and Airs W. E. Pearce, who were assisted by ladies of both churches. The Revs. B. R. White (St. Thomas', Sanson) and R. E. Fordyce (Sanson Alcthodist), were jointly responsible for the conduct of the function. The following are particulars of the various competitions:— Cooking (stewards, Airs Jas. Bowater and Aliss IT. Bowater): Pikelets, under 12yrs): George Fordyce 1; jam sandwich, Aliss Francis Palmer 1; jam roll, Airs 'Frank Grace.

Floral competition (stewards, Mrs A. IC. Drew and Aliss E. Hope): Hand posy, under 12, Leslie Fordyce 1: hand posy, over 12, Aliss Jean Atasters 1: bowl of flowers. Airs W. E. Pearce; vase of flowers. Airs W. J. Croueher.

Vegetable competition (stewards. Airs Jas. Bowater and Miss 11. Bowater): Rev. R. E,, Fordyce 1 (13 varieties). Nail driving: Aliss N. Masters and Air A. Alatthews: ball and bucket competition, Air A. Alatthews; clock golf, Air H. Pearce. A well stocked produce stall was under the charge of Mesdames A. Adams and P. AL Gedye and the ever popular sweet stall was in the hands of Miss F. Palmer and P. Hope. The concert party’s orchestra under the leadership of Air Gough favoured the company with several violin solos. A r oca! duets were given by Air and Mr.s Price and Air H. J. Kink entertained with ventrilnquial items and blackboard tricks. At the conclusion of the evening. Rev. R. Fordyce expressed the thanks of the members of botn churches and of the audience to all who had assisted in the success of the evening.
