From Our Own Correspondent. The fifth annual meeting of the Longburn Miniature Rifle Club Was held at the I residence of Mr F. S. Birch, president, j who presided over a good attendance oi members. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr F. S. Birch, who offered two medals to be shot | for each week and a small prize to the shooters who hold them the most times i during the season. I The fourth annual meeting of the Long- | burn Women’s Institute was held last ■ Wednesday, Mrs Kinninmont presiding. 1 Apologies for absence were received from 1 Mrs Lemberg and Miss V. Zurcher. The secretary read the annual report and balance sheet, which were adopted. The points prizes for the year were won by Mrs Mabey 1, Holland 2 and Fletcher 3. Arrangements were made to hold tlie birthday on the se.cond Wednesday of next month. Mesdames Rowland and Hill were appointed delegates to attend the half-yearly council meeting in Palmerston North. Tlie retiring president and secretary were each presented with a bouquet in appreciation of their services during tlie year. The election oi the new committee was as follows: President, Mrs W. Fletcher; secretary, Mrs Stephensen; vice-presidents, Mesdames Mabey and Rowland; committee, Mesdames Chamberlain, Plrockliss and Oke. Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mrs Hill and Miss Zurcher. School Sports. Tlio Longblirn School sports which were postponed last year on account of tho wet weather, were held at the school grounds last Friday. The results, were as follow: 220 juniors boys, S. Oke 1, E.
