Lying ill with tuberculosis of the spine, and paralysis of both;legs, scout James Dawson, of the 9th Newcastle troop, continued to smile and face up to life. During the past eighteen months he has undergone eight operations. Now he has got his reward. The Boy Scouts’ Association has presented him with the Cornwell Badge for “courage, capability, and character.” Licences, for “bars on wheels,” which sell -wines, spirits, beer and warming, drinks between certain hours, are to be granted to ex-Service men in Poland.
