OiiD BOYS HOLD ANNUAL MEETING

The annual mooting of tho Palmerston North. Old Boys' Football Club was held last evening, Mr J. W. Rutherfurd presiding over a large attendance of members.

In speaking to tho annual report (already published), the chairman said that tho club had enjoyed a very successful season and the club’s iinances were still in a very sound condition. He mentioned that a great deal of the club’s success was due to tho club spirit, and tho manner in which each team had played its games. Ho congratulated the various members who attained representative honours and for tho credit that they had brought to tho club by their displays.

The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr N. H. Nash; president, Mr K. W. Eglinton; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Murray, G. Loudon, J. \V. Rutlierfurd, A. R. McKegg, A. E. Mansford, N. Ingham, E. Barry, E. G. Seeker, J. A. Colqukoun, B. Palmer, A. W. Yortt, R. Lemberg, G. Luoni, C. L. Mowlem, R. Linklater and Dr. Will; club captain, Mr A. S. H. Cutler; secretary, Mr W. Simmons; committee, Messrs W. S. Fox, G. J. Kells, 0. Galpin, M. F. Henry and G. Dawick; dance secretaries, Messrs M. I-leise and G. A. Robertson; trustees, Messrs A. E. Mansford, W. E. Norris and J. W. Rutherfurd; hon. auditor, Mr K. S. Glendinning; club delegates to Manawatu Rugby Union, Messrs A. S. H. Cutler, K. W. Eglinton, J. W. Rutherfurd, W. E. Norris and 0. Galpin. Mr Iv. W. Eglinton moved a motion of thanks for the services rendered by Mr J. W. Rutherfurd and Mr W. S. Fox, who were not seeking re-election Both gentlemen, ho said, had given a lot of time to tho club’s work, and the hope was expressed that they would continue to do so. It ivas decided to hold tho first practico on March 28 on a ground yet to be arranged. A bound book containing the records of the club since its inception, was on view, and a vote of thanks was passed to Mr G. Dawick for his work in this connection. BUNNYTHORPE FOOTBALL CLUB The annual meeting of the Bunnythorpe Football Club was held on Monday. There was a fair attendance anu Mr E. Clevely presided. The chairman’s report showed that the club had experienced a very lean year, not being able to fulfil its engagements. Three players had won representation in the junior representatives —E. Duthie, W. Sutherland and W. Coles. The balance-sheet showed a loss on the year’s working and this was partly due to members not paying their fees.

The chairman appealed to the players to assist .the club as much as possible and so help to field a team for the coming season.

Clevely and E, Clevely; committee, Messrs W. Andrew, R. Clevely, E. Clevely, lv. Benge, H. Jeffries, W. Sutherland, M. Thomas, R. Mitchell, E. Whitehead, 0. Jackson, J. Durton, and team captains.

In view of the small attendance it was decided to hold over tho question of entries of teams into the competition, The first practice will be he'd on March 2S. It was resolved to record in the minutes appreciation of Mr E. Clevely’s past services. UNITED CLUB MEETING. The annual meeting of the United Football Club was held last evening, Mr.- W. R. Kells, president, being in the chair. There were about 30 members present. Apologies for absence were received from tho Hon. Mark Briggs, Mr. Ramsay, and Mr. A. E. Mansford (Mayor). In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman said it was remarkable that the club had defaulted only two games during the whole season. Tho coach for the junior team deserved praise for the way in which he had improved their standard of play towards the end of the season.

The financial position of the club was, under the circumstances, satisfactory. If the same committee kept on, the chairman considered the finances would improve during the coming year. After the adoption of the Teport and balance-sheet, tho resignation of Mr. Harold Stone as secretary was accepted with regret. The chairman moved that an appreciation of Mr. Stone’s services be placed on record and this was carried.

Mr. G. Edmunds was elected as new secretary amidst applause. Mr. Ward tendered his resignation from the management committee and the secretary was instructed to send him a letter of thanhs for the work he had done in the club’s interests.. Officers were elected for the coming year as follows: —Patron, Mr. S. G. Goldingham; president, Mr. W. B. Kells; treasurer, Mr. N. Sinclair; auditor, Mr. S. G. Campbell; club captain, Mr! C. Podjursky; management committee, Messrs. Moran, Glastonbury, Peters, Stone, Bobb, Carruthers, Barnsay, Culpan, Turner and Parker. Eighteen vice-presidents were elected, and 12 new members joined the club.

It was arranged that the coaches be elected by the committee. It was decided to send a letter of congratulation to the Hon. Mark Briggs on his recent appointment to the Legislative Council. Mr. Smith’s offer to coach boys of the West End School in. the interests of the club was accepted. A committee to attend to the social duties of the club was set up. _ The first practice nisht was fixed for

WANGANUI, Last Night. “I think New Zealand made a bad blunder in adopting the new scrum formation,” said Mr. E. R. G. Steere, ex-All Black, speaking as a club delegate at the annual meeting of the Wanganui Metropolitan Rugby Union to-night. “Everything possible should bo done to revert to tile two-three scrum and, if necessary, the wing forward. ’ ’ The meeting carried a recommendation on those lines to the Wanganui Rugby Council.
