Nominations closod yestorday for the 24 scats on tho general conunitteo of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association, the election to which occurs next month. The secretary (Mr. H. E. Kissling) said yesterday that he had not yet chocked over the list of nominated names, but at leust it was certain that a ballot would bo required.

The Palmerston North High School Boat'd last evening signed a contract for £3lO for tho erection of a cricket pavilion at the Boys’ High School. The Parents’ Association found two-thirds of the necessary money and tfie unemployment Board is providing tue remainder. The Parents’ Association is to be sent a letter of appreciation ior the interest taken in the matter. ❖ <s•s><«>

The time lost by pupils of the Palmerston North High Schools and Technical High School, who have to travel to school by train each day, was referred to at last evening’s meeting of the Board of Governors. Mr. W. R. Birnic suggested approaching the department with the view of securing for these boys and girls sufficient liuancial assistance to enable them to stay at the hostels provided at the schools.
