Dahlia Display

Citizens are requested to note that the Horticultural Society’s annual dahlia show will be held in the Empire hall on Saturday next. Despite the unfavourable weather conditions of tho past month there is every indication of a good display, several of the leading growers having expressed their intention of being present. There should be keen competition in the section open only to members of any women’s gardening circle. New exhibitors will be welcomed and the secretary will be at the Empire hall on Friday evening from 7 o’clock to receive entries. If more convenient to exhibitors, exhibits may be staged on Friday evening. Schedules may be obtained at florists.

During the year there will be competition for two valuable trophies. Air W. G. Black has donated a trophy val - ued at sgns. for most points gained in the shows held during the year; to be won twice in succession-or three times at intervals. Conditions are set out in tho schedule. The winner for 1935 was Mrs B. M. Munro.

A well-wisher has donated a trophy (value. £.l Is) for most points gained in. decorative sections during the j’enr, competitors to compete in at len cf : three shows.
