Miss E. McVeagh lias returned to Napier after an extended visit to Palmerston North.

Mrs. V. Allen, of Wellington, was a week-end visitor to Palmerston North and was the guest of her sister, Mrs. It. H. Spencer, Grey street.

Miss Carswell Cook, wka has been the guest of Mr and Mrs J. D. O'Connor, Dannevirke, left on Saturday on her return to Christchurch.

Tho Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association yesterday passed a motion of sympathy with Mr H. J. Lancaster, Glen Oroua, in the illness of his wife.

Miss Mavis Francis, pupil of Mr. B. E. F. Jones, L.E.S.M., L.T.C.L., was successful in passing the Eudimcnts of Music paper at the December examinations for her A.T.C.L.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Eutherford, who have been spending a holiday at Moanaroa beach as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. Stuart, have returned to their home at Kiwitea.

At the meeting of the Manawatu branch of the National Council of Women yesterday congratulations were extended to Mrs. H. Paterson, of Pahiatua, on her selection as delegate from the New Zealand Women's Institutes to attend the tri-ennial conference of tho Associated Country Women of the World, with good wishes for a successful mission.

At the annual meeting of the Manawatu Ladies'Golf Club yesterday, very deep sympathy was expressed with Mrs L. A. Abraham, retiring president, and foundation member of the club, in her illness, it being decided to write conveying good wishes io r her speedy recovery. In view of Mrs Abraham’s active interest in the club over a number of years, it was unanimously agreed to elect her patron.
