Assuring those members of the Townswomen’s Guild who had not yet viewed Titania’s Palace, of the treat in store for them, Mrs. Mansford yes- - terday stated that. Saturday’s takings had been only £3 short of Auckland’s record day.
At the meeting of the Palmerston North Townswomen’s Guild yesterday a welcomo was extended to Mrs. W. G. Black and pleasure was expressed that Mr. Black had recovered from his recent accident and was now restored to health.
On behalf of the members of the Palmerston North Townswomen’s Guild Mrs. Mansford wished Mrs. K. Dean “bon voyage” on the eve of her departure for America and England, wishing her a happy journey and safe return to New Zealand. Dr. K. and Mrs. Dean leave for Wellington to-day and sail at the end of the week.
Play in the annual tournament ox the Wanganui Croquet Association was continued on Saturday. In the championship doubles (second round), Mrs R. D- Gambrill (Palmerston, North) and La Roche beat Mrs Brass . and Harrison, 26—7. Mrs Gambrill was successful against B. Wansborqugh, 26 — ”13, in the second life, of the championship singles, but was beaten in the same event by Gibbs, 26—5.
