Feilding Show Awards
RESULTS OF BULLING CLASS. Entries in the killing class for chilled beef, at tho recent Peilding A. and P. Show were judged on the hooks at Messrs T. Borthwick’s Peilding Preez ing Works by Mr J. Drysdale, senior inspector to the New Zealand Meat Produce Board, on Saturday. The age of the animals was estimated by their teeth.
Messrs T. Borthwick and Sons present a challenge cup to the best pair of carcases most suitable for chilled beef and a miniature cup will be presented to tho winner each year. Awards in this class were as follows: —
Pirst prize, pen No. 10 and 11: W. G. Booth’s entry. Age 2 years. Polled Angus bullocks. Well bred, evenly covered from top to bottom. Well proportioned meat and bone. Ideal for the trade.
Second prize, pen No. 49 and 50: H. A. Stewart’s entry. Ago 2 and 3 years. Two Polled Angus bullocks, well bred and one equally as good as first prize pen, but the other not quite so good. Third prize, pen No. 41 and 42: B. K. Thomson’s entry. Age 2 and 3 years. Two Polled Angus bullocks, well bred with small bone, but. not too well filled in buttocks.
Pourth place, pen 47 and 48: B. K. Thomson’s entry. Two years old. Two Polled Angus bullocks. Show good breeding. One good bullock but deficient in buttocks. Other also showing dip in back. Other pens woro commented on as follows: —■
Pen No. 7 and 29: Estate E. Short’s entry. Four and 3 years. Two Polled Hereford cross bullocks, 816 and Slßlbs. Showing good breeding and finish, but too hea/y. Pen 34 and 35: F. J. Boddy’s entry. Four and 3 years. Two Shorthorn bullocks. Ono beast deformed and the other ju:.'t average. Pen 5 and 28: H. A. Stewart’s entry. Four and 3 years. Two Polled Angus bullocks 850 and 640 lbs. Showing good breeding, but one too heavy for the trade, and too uneven as a pen,
